I will in this assignment explain which problems France has experienced with their immigrants in 1986 and in 2005, and i will by analyzing the film “La Haine” and its film manuscript “Jusqu'ici tout va bien...”, which is wrote and instructed by the French actor and instructor Mathieu Kassovitz, explain the problems that the film shows, and how it shows them. I will also explain the solutions that it delivers. I have narrowed it down to following problems: The police, the ghetto's, redundancy, education, politics, integration, the medias, talents, drug abuse and religion. The film was made in 1995 because Mathieu Kassovitz wanted to show the immigration problems in the French suburbs. The movie was based on actual accident in 1986 where a young boy called Malik Oussekine died as a result of brutal police violence.
In 2005 two boys died while hiding from the police at a transformer station. This resulted in riots all over France. The immigrants had had enough. The Minister of of the Interior commented the whole episode, but this only resulted in more riots because he commented that the troublemakers in the suburbs were like a plague.
I will by analyzing Danish newspaper articles also find problems with the French integration model: “Liberté, egalité, fraternité” and whatever solutions the articles may bring.
